How Can sore Throat And Itchiness In The Neck Be Treated?

I just began Mobic on Thursday and this morning Friday I noticed my neck was itching a lot and wondered why? I also noticed the left side of my tongue was very red and is very sore. I had tongue cancer surgery 6 years ago, so it may be more sensitive than the right side of the tongue. Do you agree I should stop the Mobic to see if symptoms subside and go back on my ibuprofen for my arthritic pain?

Hi..

Mobic contains active ingredient Meloxicam and it is a non steroidal anti inflammatory analgesic [NSAID] like Ibuprofen..
However if the symptoms began just after taking Mobic, therefore it is a side effect of this medicine and can cause reaction leading to itching and soreness and inflammation of tongue..

So it is advisable to stop taking the same and immediately consult your Physician and get yourself checked..

If it is a side effect or allergic reaction of Mobic you will be advised to continue Ibuprofen or will be given other NSAID durgs along with anti histamine like benadryl to reduce the allergy symptoms.

Also do warm saline gargles.
Suck ice to reduce inflammation and avoid hot and spicy foods as it will help in reducing soreness and redness of tongue..

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
